About the RNZAF Mentoring Programme

Since 2008, the RNZAF Mentoring Programme has been dedicated to leading workplace mentoring, providing a platform for mentors to train and guide, and for mentees to learn and achieve success.
It aims to entwine the NZDF values and bi-culturalism, whilst developing innovation, motivation, and leadership attributes.
With its highly acclaimed content attaining three international gold standards, the RNZAF Mentoring Programme is where all NZDF personnel – military or civilian – can expand their networks, learn new life skills, and feel a sense of belonging.

Programme evolution
In collaboration with the New Zealand Coaching and Mentoring Centre (NZCMC), the programme has evolved beyond conventional military structures and aims to create mentoring partnerships outside the traditional hierarchical setup.
Our scope has broadened significantly over the years, expanding from focusing on junior ranks, to being accessible across all ranks and to civilian staff within the Air Force.
Tautuki | Mentoring defined
Mentoring, as defined by the RNZAF Mentoring Programme, is a learning relationship focused on personal and professional development, fostering mutual learning and growth through shared skills and experiences.
This approach differs from coaching, which is goal-oriented and centres on specific competencies, aiming for targeted results within a shorter time frame.
